Inorganic Lab Supervisor – Lafayette, Louisiana

We currently have a need for an Inorganic Lab Supervisor to work in our Lafayette, Louisiana environmental testing facility.

The individual hired will be responsible for supervising the inorganic department including microbiology, wet chemistry, metals and soil prep. Duties include managing the work flow of the department including prioritizing and assigning work in order to meet required turn times. Reviewing analytical data to ensure accuracy and to ensure quality control requirements are met. Communicating with project managers, lab directors or the QA Manager when problems arise that may delay turn time or affect data quality.

The supervisor is responsible for training department employees to ensure competency and to ensure a fully cross-trained staff.

Other duties:

- Reviewing analytical reports to ensure completeness and compliance with specifications.

- Writing, reviewing, or revising SOPs to ensure adherence to the methods and current practices.

- Supporting new method development.

- Conducting employee performance appraisals, employee scheduling, and assisting with employee issue resolution.

Candidates must have a bachelor's degree in microbiology, biology, chemistry, environmental sciences or a closely related science field. Must have at least 4 college semester credit hours in general microbiology. Have a minimum of 5 years in an environmental laboratory. Must have considerable knowledge of the basic principles of chemistry and microbiology and be familiar with EPA methods and NELAC standards. Supervisory experience is preferred.
