by AWS MUNCIE -- Sherry Laboratories was recently presented with an Appreciation Award by the Tulsa Section of the American Welding Society. The AWS recognized Sherry and two of its legacies -- Metlab Testing Services, Inc. and Midstates Analytical Laboratories -- for a longtime support of the organization. The society is a multifaceted, nonprofit organization which promotes the science, technology and application of welding and related joining disciplines. Sherry employees Cecil Burnett, Dan Lawson and Bill Vesely were also honored for more than 75 years of combined volunteer service and support of the AWS. The trio has donated countless hours serving on the organizations Board of Directors, teaching seminars and promoting safe and structurally sound welding techniques. "Sherry Laboratories is fortunate to have such outstanding employees," said Steve Reilly, SL Vice President - West Region. "They work tirelessly to provide incredible service to our clients, but still feel compelled to donate free time to promote worthwhile organizations like this and work toward improving those around them. They are definitely role models for each of us to be proud." Burnett is Quality Manager-Materials Testing Services, and Vesely is Lab Director of Sherry Laboratories metallurgical testing facility in Broken Arrow, Okla. Burnett began working for Midstates Analytical Laboratories in 1989. Sherry purchased the company in 1999. Vesely was a founding stockholder of Midstates in 1966. He began working for the company in 1969 and was co-owner at the time of Sherrys purchase. Lawson is Lab Director of SLs non-metallics testing facility in Tulsa, Okla. He started his Sherry career in 1976 when he accepted the dual position of Vice President/Quality Assurance Manager for Metlab Testing Services, Inc.
