Daleville, Indiana -- Sherry Laboratories, an independent provider of third-party testing services, is pleased to announce two of its facilities have recently earned approvals from major aerospace suppliers.

Sherry’s facility in Broken Arrow, Okla., was recently added to the Raytheon Aircraft Company (RAC) Supplier Approval List, while the facility in Daleville, Ind., has been approved to do testing by
Snecma - Groupe SAFRAN.

As a result of the Raytheon announcement, Sherry’s Broken Arrow facility will be able to provide testing services to Raytheon and its suppliers. The approvals and corresponding test codes are as follow:

  • Burn test - interior materials (23A)
  • Spectrochemical analysis as required (34K)
  • Composite testing (26H)
  • Wet solution analysis as required (34L)
  • Hardness, Rockwell (34F)
  • Test on nonmetallic materials as specified (8T)
  • Salt spray (34J)

The Raytheon approval is one of many accumulated by the Broken Arrow facility, which specializes in metallurgical and nonmetallic testing and metallurgical field services, and contains members of the Sherry Engineering Group. The lab also enjoys accreditation by the American Association for Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA) and approvals from the likes of Bizjet, Cessna Aircraft Company, GE Aviation, Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation, Honeywell, Petroleum Helicopters, Inc., Pratt & Whitney and many more.

The Snecma approval awarded to the Daleville materials laboratory covers a variety of services needed by Snecma and its suppliers. The qualifications include (test type followed by Snecma code):

  • Tensile test at ambient temperature (A)
  • Nitrogen content (J)
  • Tensile test at high temperature (B)
  • Oxygen content (K)
  • Stress rupture test (C)
  • Metallographic optical (L1)
  • X-ray fluoresence analysis (F1)
  • Inclusion rating (L1b)
  • Flame atomic absorption (F4)
  • Micrography including weld inspection (L1e)
  • Furnace atomic absorption (F5)
  • Hardness test HB (M1)
  • Other spectrometry analysis (F6)
  • Macrographic inspection (XL2)
  • Carbon content (G)
  • Specimen machining (Z2)
  • Sulfur content (H)

As with Broken Arrow, the approval adds to an ever-growing list for the Daleville facility, which also performs metallurgical testing and contains members of the Sherry Engineering Group plus offers environmental and microbiological testing services. The lab is accredited by A2LA and Nadcap and approved by Bell Helicopter Textron, Bombardier Aerospace, Cessna Aircraft Company, Chromalloy Gas Turbine Corporation, GE Aircraft Engines, Honeywell, Pratt & Whitney, Rolls Royce Corp./PLC, Sikorsky, The Boeing Company/McDonnell Douglas, and many others.
